I don't remember much, but my an-- my mother, she was kind and brave. She...worked in a factory. Made clothes. She'd leave at seven in the morning and wouldn't come back until more than twelve hours later, for my sake. She was pretty. Wore a headband with flowers.
Alp was an idiot. But a smart idiot, he learnt a language in less than a year. Could hold his own against kids trying to strong-arm him into selling things cheap. Smiled way too much but...he really smiles, it's amazing. He believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself.
