Mundane Skill: Game Manual

Basically Roxy gets told stuff about the Game over several years in tidbits and research, so it's just like a general knowledge skill.

There's all this stuff minus the character specific stuff.

But for the purpose, The Game is basically procreation for Universes. And universes may be frogs.

Some making sense tidbits for Roxy! And others.

Dream selves are something every player receives, and they exist since birth. Not everyone always wakes up, but usually someone does. Prospit dreamers can see the skies of Skaia which tell the future. Derse dreamers get advice from whispers of horrorterrors (BECAUSE THAT'S SAFE.)

Dersites don't kill their dreamers, despite the fact one day they will fight against them, is because they're basically mascot. You just don't assassinate them before it's time.

Roxy has aspect names and roles! Just a base twelve, though she's aware as many as 48 may exist. Dirk is a Prince of Heart, Jane is a Maid of Life, and Jake is a Page of Hope. Jade is a Witch of Space, and John is Heir of Breath. Still no idea what Dave is, and Rose is still Seer of Light as she knew before.

Godtiers are given conditional immortality, they revive so long as they don't die heroically or justly. They get ~magic~ clothes, flight, and are able to unlock the full potential of their abilities. DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WAY TO GO GODTIER, as that was Special Plot Info.

Dream Bubbles are bubbles in the Void. When players who no longer have dream selves sleep, they dream in the bubbles. The bubbles manifest memories of the dreamers, perhaps even multiple dreamers if more people are in one bubble. These bubbles were provided by Horrorterrors, Roxy doesn't know why.

PERHAPS THE MOST DISTRESSING TIDBIT THOUGH.

What a Doomed Timeline is. Since the Game involves a whole lot of time travel shenanigans, there has to be order. Which means in Paradox Space, nothing new ever happens.

There is One True Timeline, the Alpha Timeline. (Which is different from the Alpha session, there is too many Alphas.) The Alpha Timeline is where everything makes sense and there's no time paradoxes or unstable time loops. Everything that exists has a beginning and end that can be found. In the Alpha Timeline E V E R Y T H I N G that will happen has already happened.

To deviate from that path leads to a Doomed Timeline, and it's at that point where everyone is basically just a ticking time bomb until fate kills them. It's possible to last for some time in a doomed timeline, perhaps even years, but eventually Paradox Space will erase the timeline itself, which erases anything living from existence entirely.

People who die in doomed timelines, however, may appear in the Dream Bubbles. The Dream Bubbles are Homestuck afterlife, so it's almost imperative for a Doomed Timeline person to die if they wish to continue existing at all.

Most importantly is the Alpha Timeline IS NOT NECESSARILY THE ONE WHERE THE PLAYERS LIVE. The only way to win is in the Alpha Timeline, not all Alpha Timelines lead to winning. Since it procreation, as all procreation, there is nowhere near a hundred percent success rate.

So if a session is fated to not being a successful game, there is literally nothing the players can do. Normally.

(Roxy will get to realize why John's powers are so OPed.)
