John is just proof of us being doomed.

Doomed timelines. In my world time is prewritten. You can't change the timeline or you'll create an offshoot. And everyone in that offshoot is slated to die.

John's powers are supposed to let him do it. Change time without creating a doomed timeline. But if he could do it....then the memory wouldn't exist.

So we're doomed. Whatever happens, everyone in that timeline is either going to die because it's been Doomed, or because the Condesce and Lord English will finish us off.

Rats leave.

Maybe he just hasn't gotten the chance to do it yet. I mean, I'll be the first to tell you, the more I learn the less I understand about where you're from, but if your world was destroyed before he could, he wouldn't have done it yet, right?

If you haven't lit a thing on fire yet, no matter how much you intend to, it isn't burned yet. So if you haven't changed time yet, it isn't changed yet. Doesn't mean it can't happen.

[In fact, he might be reaching to grab that glass shard from your hand. ...yes, it's so that he can set it on fire. orz]

And as for us Rats... It's not like anyone's gone for good, right? We'll see Zelos again someday, I know it. And everybody in the pods is just sleeping.

And Jo, Fiere, and I haven't left, right?

So what? Right when it was all falling apart, the Reaper arrive right then? I dunno, the fact two time gods were all up in our business, seems weird there was no warning of it.

It's not like we had all the time in the world to sit around.

You and Fiere replaced someone who did. And something keeps happening to the Echoes, how long until Jo's gone?

[The glass is now on fire. He doesn't even care that glass isn't exactly flammable. There is blood on it, blood is flammable, therefore it is on fire.

Time gods or not, if they could have seen the Reapers coming, wouldn't they have at least said something? Something coming to destroy the universe isn't exactly something you stay quiet about if you know it's there.

[As for the rest... actually, that brings up a question.]

...Who did we take the place of, anyway? I guess I've never really asked about who came before Fiere and me, have I.
