[she tries to dodge the grab, though]

[And the Carapacian LUNGES, trying to take a BITE.]

[her reflexes are fairly good; as soon as realizes what's going on she moves back as quickly as she can, automatically trying to get her sword from her sylladex... only to find she can't.

that. that is not ideal. she's not really keen on the idea of trying to fight them without a weapon, so she's turning and sprinting away as fast as she can.]

[Why did you wander so far from home. They told you not to, but you DID, you have to get back, you have to, but it's so FAR.]

[The Carapacians pursue you, jerky, stumbling. It's obvious they're mad with hunger, but still they follow.]

[she keeps running, pushing herself to go faster, believing that they're going to fail to catch her

she's looking for an exit, or something to attack with]

[You manage to keep ahead of them, but just barely.]

[And then there's a crash as you move from a dark gray square to white as white carapacians appear and bum rush the pursuers.]

[she's startled by that for a moment, but quickly moves out of the way of the white ones and then continues to run, not bothering to stay and watch]

[There is a Strife going on in the background.]

[And a white one is scooping you up suddenly and ALL THE CONCERN, are you all right Dreamer?]

[can she get out of it's arms? even if this is one of the ones that won't eat her, she's still not down with being grabbed after... that.]

[Oh, oh dear, you're panicking! No no, it's fine!]

[Being released.]

[she keeps running, using her powers to see if she can pick up on how to get out of here]

[The white Carapacian is following.]

How can I know I can trust you?

[The laws of Prospit prevents us from ever harming a dreamer. Derse does not have those laws.]

[Prospitan offers hand. We need to get you home!]

[Time fast forwards, you're home, you're safe, and the Carapacian explains. Explains that there is a difference between Dersites and Prospitans. How you're a 'Dreamer' though the term confuses you, and how a Prospitan must never harm one, but for Dersites it's more just really, really bad form to do so before the start of the end. It's confusing, but you understand a few basic things.]

[When Carapacioans are hungry, they have a harder time controlling themselves, and they're all basically starving.]

[The reason you're protected is because of some role you don't understand and not because it's you and that HURTS more than the teeth did in your skin.]

[And no matter what, you are never completely safe outside your house.]

[Lace is herself again, and she's in the basement. There's Roxy, only five years old, a bandage wrapped around her leg, and sorting through cans of food with a grim determination.]

[She jumps, whipping around to face Lace.]

[she holds her hands up, placating]

[She moves, so there's cans between her and Lace, a hand moving to her ears because you're TALKING, only the screens talk, you're weird, how can you be safe?]

[So that whole understanding without speaking doesn't just apply to Carapacians.]
