[ He's sure as fuck flopped in his previously unused bed like a miserable squid person, all tangled up in Cal's arms. Roxy gets a grunt of acknowledgement. ]

[Door closed and moving over to the bed. She sits on the edge, not saying anything at first, and have a few moments, reaches for one of his hands, taking it in her own.]

[When she talks, it's quiet.]

I don't think I ever told ya. How I wished every night I'd go sleepwalkin'. I know, it was a pain in the ass to you...but everytime I woke up, I'd feel this warmth in my hand.

DD had to go. Jack, too. Both of them were pretty much always within my reach. Instead I fucked around figuring I'd just take them down like some kind of godmod asshole.

They were pawns. Anything they did that mattered could have been done by someone else.

We only had the crypts to godtier. Jake and Jane couldn't have their dream selves for that. Jane might have had another heal, but considering how everything turned out, I'm not sure that would have mattered in the end. They didn't do much else except I guess one could have taken Prospit, but the Condesce wouldn't be lacking in making explosions.

Maybe, or maybe it would've crippled her grip on us just enough to survive. I don't know where the spiderbitch factored into it, but if I'd been proactive when I had the chance then maybe we wouldn't have been caught unaware.

[ Turning his head to look at her. The shades are slightly skewed, pushed up his face. The visible eye is faintly bloodshot.

You would think that someone with my tendencies towards complete and utter sociopathy wouldn't have had a problem maintaining the order of my so called kingdom. A prince's job is to destroy - not string that shit along to a slow death.

She was like, trying to do this whole thing with her light aspect and basically make herself the big damn hero for the timeline by basically fucking everything ever up. I think she might have been Jake's dream girl from forever ago? She was blue and she was harassing him.

She was totally batshit and arrogant as all hell, I super hate her. [And when does Roxy hate, really, aside from the Condesce.]

[She sighs and flops down beside him.] And I'm apparently able to say fuck conservation of matter and make literally anything. I was nearly tripping over the plot, the Condesce needed me alive, I should have been able to avoid Jade logically, and oh look, primo spot to important shit in. Instead I was making cubes and pumpkins for hours.

It's not all your fault. [She reaches up for his glasses, and will take them off, if he'll let her.]

[ He'll let her, but he keeps his eyes shut. The dark circles under them say that he probably hasn't had a solid night's sleep in a few weeks. ]

Yeah. I sort of remember seeing her. Long-winded fake-nice spiderbitch, screwing everyone over for her own selfish means.

[ Cracking one eye open to look at her. ]

But I sort of figured. That you'd have some kind of ridiculous power, I mean. It's not your fault you didn't get the chance to use it. It was a pretty well thought out attack on the Batterwitch's part, solid pretty much right up until the ghost threw herself into the works.

Tbf, that might be a thing. Dunno what Jake was doin' 'sides super saiyan, but it freaked everyone the fuck out.

And part of her plan was getting you out of the picture as much as possible. Just like her plan used my own weaknesses against me.

[She's looking at him with concern.]

I know you always try to take the blame, but c'mon, Dirk. We both knew more, were more ready for everythin'. We're a team.

[ He resists for a while. Just. Keeps his eyes shut and thinks that it'd be kind of nice to fall asleep like this. Relaxing. Kind of safe, in a way he's long overdue to feel.

But eventually he does, slightly apprehensive. ]

You do kinda suck with the interpersonal relationships thing. [Because god knows if she's just nice, he'll start 'correcting' her in his head.] You fucked up with Jake, you were jerky with Jane at least at home.

You also didn't even have silly aliens to kinda learn what do with in person socializing. So yeah, you're gonna fuck up. You're human, humans who grew up with society fuck up all the time accordin' to movies and psyche studies. Hell, we're kids, if we grew up in norm society, everyone would be sayin' we're still growing and learning or whatever other after school special stuff.

But you know, even if you fucked up with two, you didn't fuck up with Calliope. And her bro doesn't count 'cause he's a crazy evil asshole.

And...and even if I made you think otherwise sometimes, you never fucked up with me.

You were always kind, and patient when you didn't have to be, and only ever told me what I deserved to hear. With me, you never needed to change how you acted because it was reasonable and the best you could do in that sitch. You were perfectly fine being you with me. Never needed to change a thing.

Just sayin', for a dude who literally knew five people, with one not countin' 'cause asshole, you fucked up with half and were fine with the other half. Not bad numbers at all. Hell, if we count the clown, you were doing well with THREE people.

[And Lil Hal was your splinter and that's serious projection, let's not get into that.]

[ Ordinarily, tough love would be just what the doctor ordered. It had always worked in the past. A nice sharp kick in the ass to remind him to get over his problems and move on.

But ruminating on those fuckups - not just for the six months he'd been left alone with them, but the time before that. Hashing that shit out with himself, trying to figure out how the fuck to deal when he couldn't get away from it. Knowing you botched half of the relationships you'd ever had doesn't do great things when you're too far gone to do anything about it.

He just sighs through his nose and shuts his eyes, nodding slowly. ]
